Small groups at St. John's are a way for you to enjoy a small community within a large congregation. For more information about the small groups listed below, contact the church office or the group leader.
PRAYER
Prayers for the People of God: Meets Wednesdays at 10:15am in the St. John's Prayer Room for one-half hour.
Knit One, Pray One: A ministry of prayer in which participants knit Prayer Shawls or Lap Robes for those in need. The gift expresses love and concern for the recipient and provides focused prayer time for the volunteer who makes the gift as knitters weave prayers for the recipient into the shawl or robe they create. If you don't care to knit, you can support this ministry with a contribution. Crocheters are also welcome!
Prayer Warriors (via email). A Prayer List noting members and friends of our congregation who are in need of prayer is updated daily and distributed by email. Contact Karen Goodman in the church office to be added to the group email list or to add a name to the prayer chain. karen@stjohns-salisbury.org
FAITH DEVELOPMENT
Monday Rembrandts is a small group of artists who meet every Monday beginning at 1:00 p.m. in Room 118. For more information contact Gerry Webster at 704-633--8397.
Reading Group: Come together with other readers to enjoy short stories by contemporary writers and discuss them in light of your life and faith experiences. The group has taken a temporary hiatus and will resume at a later date. Contact the church office if you are interested in participating in the Reading Group.
Spirited Arts: Experiencing the performing arts serves to help us reflect on our spiritual selves and feed our souls with emotion. ARTSY (Art Reveals True Spiritual Yearnings) attends pre-agreed upon events in the local area. To learn more, please contact Karen Puckett, karenlouise@windstream.net.
Weekly Word: Meets on Wednesdays at noon in the Library to study the upcoming Sunday's Bible readings. Bring your lunch or just bring your Bible and an open heart.
SUPPORTING OTHERS
Quilters: Quilters of all ages and levels of experience learn and laugh together. The quilts they make have raised funds for camper scholarships at Lutheridge/Lutherock. Join your hands with theirs!
Friends-In-Step Ministry: Brings caring companionship to members who are homebound in nursing homes, grieving, or coping with chronic illness. This ministry trains willing volunteers, who work to develop long-term committed Christian relationships with their "Friends-In-Step." Is God calling you to use your spiritual gifts in this ministry?
Hospital Visitors Group: Each member visits St. John's members at Rowan Regional Medical Center one day each week. The group gathers bi-monthly for lunch, fellowship and support.
