St John’s Welcomes New CDC Director
Joanna Smith began work on April 27
We are excited to welcome Joanna Smith as the new Director of the ChildDevelopmentCenter. The CDC ministers to 180 children and their families with a staff of over 40 teachers and assistants.
A native of Salisbury, Joanna has extensive experience in the field of child care as a teacher, assistant director, and consultant to early childhood centers throughout the Charlotte region. She has her BS from UNC-G, with additional industry credentials secured at DukeUniversity.
“The St John’s CDC is one way in which St John’s demonstrates its commitment to the community at large,” Joanna writes. “I look forward to being a part of that mission.”
Joanna will be installed at the 11:00 service on May 30. Be sure to visit with her then … or stop by the CDC anytime to extend a warm welcome.

The St. John's Child Development Center (CDC) opened on September 13, 1999, to provide support to parents in the growth and development of their children. We nurture and care for infants and toddlers, ages six weeks to Kindergarten, in a Christian environment with well-defined educational objectives.
As a Four Star licensed facility, the CDC offers qualified staff members who provide developmentally appropriate activities in a kind, loving environment with individual and small group attention.
